Acidkids - Vamp (Markus Lange & Daniel Dexter Remix)Germany's own Acidkids made their first appearance on this blog in March following the release of their single "We Were Wild". The Vamp EP, out on KarateMusik (Germany), predates that release by about a year yet is still every bit as relevant. In the current climate of new! now! next! style consumption it's worth going back a few releases to catch up on what you may have missed. Also on the EP are the tracks "Burnin" and "Twisterkitchen", the latter of which is often compared to Tomas Andersson's "Washing Up".
This remix by Daniel Dexter and Markus Lange (who, if you recall, are the two respective members of the Acidkids duo), has an undeniable aura of urban industrial malaise thus making it the perfect soundtrack to a dark and bleak, "rise of the machines" type future. Take Tekel's "Mycose the Night" and toss in a bit of Booka Shade's "Mandarine Girl" to get a proper idea of what this sounds and feels like.
Apart from having worked on a remix of Maral Salmassi's "Fire Gem", Dexter, in conjunction with fellow German DJ/producer Malente, will drop the "Hyperactive" single next month on Exploited, which features remixes by Riva Starr, Bobmo and Bird Peterson. Lange, on the other hand, will be making appearances in Austria, Belgium, France and Italy before heading down to South America at the end of 2008 for a tentatively scheduled tour of Brazil and Colombia.
