Acidkids - We Were WildThere may not be a Roland TB-303 present, but if there's some technicolor day-tripping that results in a warped Michael Jackson bleeding neon, then you've got acid. Acidkids are Daniel Dexter and Markus Lange who, apart from releasing their own individual productions, moonlight as DJs on the German dance circuit, bringing the party alongside Topper Harley and X van Haag. "We Were Wild" is the seventh release from the Cologne-based Television Rocks label, with a roster that includes Zero Cash and Maral Salmassi.
Here's my factoid of the day: Maral's "Back Up Your Ass" single features a remix from Trashtalk who basically disappeared after producing that monster track, "Tank Girl", back in 2006.
Apart from that flat, dissonant drone that drags its feet while climbing up the staff for a good 30 seconds, "We Were Wild" is a great tune, almost reminiscent of 2002-era Smash TV, particularly "Nasty Girl" from the Electrified LP (download here). I remember everyone referencing the latter as "robo pop" in which case, Acidkids could get away with being "robo rock " or even "robo punk" given their subtle nods to Sham 69, the Sex Pistols and the more obvious Clash.
